I had lunch yesterday at Cindys House in downtown Cary with AR member Eleanor Thorne. I had never been there and heard all about it. While I was there I was reminded of Lazy Daze. Cindy's House had a little flyer about upcoming events in the Cary area. Every year on the fourth Saturday in August the Town of Cary puts on quite a show with the Lazy Daze Festival in downtown Cary, North Carolina.
The festival annually brings in more than 60,000 people and more than 400 artisans from all over the country who show their wares and sell their beautiful handiwork. The festival is a daylong affair with two stages set up to provide nonstop live entertainment. There are plenty of things to do for the kiddies and an abundance of food stands including fare from restaurants like ZPizza, the Tiki Grill, Lemonade vendors, and Lumpys Ice Cream.
>Lazy Daze is one of the largest festivals of its kind in the southeast. There is a lot to see and do and, unless it's raining, most people in town attend the event. I just love getting acquainted with the different artists and learning about their craft techniques.
The craftsmanship is wonderful. You can find handmade goods of every variety including jewelry, pottery, clothing, ornaments, leather, wood crafting, metal work, carvings, paintings, you name it and you will find someone there who does it, and does it to perfection.
Because of the crowds and the popular attendance, the Town of Cary makes it easy to get to the festival by providing shuttle buses from the nearby shopping mall, the Cary Towne Center, where there is plenty of free parking.
I hope to see you there!

Hi Tracy...I'm not artsy and I'm not crafty but I sure admire other people's abilities. Sounds like you had a nice lunch with Cindy and Eleanor. Smart girl, picking up some information on a fun sounding activity.
We have a big (for us) arts and craft show tomorrow although I have an appointment. I may be able to get over there for some of it. I'm going to really try now that I've read your post.
Kate
Traciy- Sounds like a festival that should not be missed, 60,000 people? that's a big gathering but should be expected based on all the arts and crafts. I hope you follow up with a virtual tour of the event.
Looks like a fun time. I like your video, great idea!!
I really enjoyed lunch - and talking about Lazy Daze! We normally use it as a time to buy our Christmas Presents! We try to get there EARLY - take a fan - several cloth bags to hold your LOOT - and skip out by 10:30. My folks go BACK around 4 to see what hasn't been sold and look around for BARGAINS!
It's got to be one of the biggest TRUE arts Festivals in the South! I can't believe how much it's grown! I know you plan to do an interview with the folks at Cindy's - and I can't wait to see that too!
I loved the information about Bond Park and Cary Lazy crazy Days. Good information for a newcomer to the area.
Tracy, thanks for the reminder about the festival. we used to live in Pinehurst, and would travel up to Cary and spend the day. Wonderful arts and crafts and a super town, besides. We live on Topsail Island now, not too far away, but haven't made the trip in a few years. Hope it is fabulous this year.
Hi Rand,
Thanks for visiting. I love to hear about others that enjoy the area.
