Holiday Happenings in the Triangle

Yesterday morning, on Thanksgiving, as I became nostalgic thinking about the holidays. I started thinking about all of the wonderful events scattered around the Triangle. Each year I make it a point to attend many of these events.

For those of you new to the Triangle or just haven't been able to make some of these annual events I wanted to share some of the top events in the Triangle during the Holiday Season!

Fabulous Neighborhoods in Cary, NC

Amberly

Established in 2006, Amberly held the distinction as the fastest selling neighborhood in the Triangle during 2006. Amberly is located in the "New Cary" in the Northwest Section.  There are seven different neighborhoods within Amberly. Village Square offers custom homes with small lot sizes and luxury brick townhomes with elevators. Blackstone at Amberly is a sold out Pulte Community. Washington Square at Amberly is a KB Home community with brick townhomes. The Peninsula has more of a traditional Custom neighborhood feel, with nicer topography, larger lot sizes, and the possibility of wooded backyards and basements. Many claim that Cary's reputation for upscale residential living is due to this subdivision and it's sometimes referred to as the "Inner Beltline" of Cary. Many native Cary residents (yes there are a few) call MacGregor Downs home. This was the first prestigious development in Cary. Construction began in the 1960s with large lots and single family homes. MacGregor West is the newest section within the subdivision with homes built in the 1990s. Bond Park in Cary - A favorite escape in the heart of Cary

Many people think of Cary as a sprawling cul-de-sac bedroom community. They are right. There are lots of reasons why families like to call Cary home - Good schools, low crime rate, clean roads, and very well thought out neighborhoods. I wrote in my last blog about the American Tobacco Trail that starts in Durham and extends all the way to Apex. What a great resource closeby. I also thought I'd write about another favorite in the heart of Cary - Bond Park. Located just east of the intersection of Cary Parkway and High House Roads this is a wonderful way to spend a fall afternoon hiking, biking, or just plain hanging out.

The facilities at Bond Park are just fabulous. They have a little bit of something for everyone including:

A special outing with my dog Maggie

Now that I've moved back to Cary I have no excuse for not bringing my dog to the doggie park in Cary. An even greater reason - the doggie park is just around the corner about a mile a way. I can even walk my dog to the park if I want.

I have written about my goofie girl Maggie in previous posts. Maggie is a 4 year old Labrador Retriever. I'm convinced that Maggie has a double personality. On the one hand Maggie is such a happy go lucky dog and always has something to give. My new neighbor came over and brought her little 9 month old when she came to visit. My Maggie brought her a ball so that they could "play" together. On the other hand, Maggie, like any other devious yellow lab, loves food and loves to contrive how to attain food. My Maggie is also high strung and needs lots of exercise which is good for Maggie and good for me.

Here's what I always tell my friends about Maggie and keeping her calm. She's on the 2,4,6 rule.

If Maggie gets a 2 mile jog in she's down for a half an hour
If Maggie getn in a 4 mile jog she's out for a couple of hours
If Maggie gets in a 6 mile jog she's out for the evening

The only alternative is to take Maggie to Doggie Daycare at Town and Country or to the Dog Park in Cary. I have a listing presentation this afternoon so I thought I'd walk to Panera Bread for breakfast with my husband Mauro and then head over to the dog park so that Maggie could chat with her friends.

We had such a wonderful time today. The weather was a bit windy and chilly but that didn't stop our little social butterfly Maggie. She met another cute male labrador, a boxer, and some other cute dogs while we were there. I thought I would also include a really cute video of the Cary Dog Park filmed by my friend of her dog Louie's trip to the Cary Dog Park too! Her dog Louie, like Maggie, gets pretty bored until she meets up with her buds.

Hello fellow Rainers,

I guess I'm a geek or a techy geek or maybe not. Who knows. However, I found my self surfing the statistics on my blog today and I found the output quite revealing.

I have a business background and in order to grow my business I like to look back on my past to see what things worked and what didn't so I don't make the same mistake twice. My business has slowed down a bit, not a lot, but enough that I had a few hours on Phone Duty today to analyze my blog, the success of each post, and what worked and what didn't.

Here's what I know for sure. I was pretty much a dud when I started blogging in August 2006 on Activerain. Fortunately I had a lot of mentors here at AR and I got in early which helped me learn from others. Today my posts get quite a following on Localism & AR, and while I may not get a ton of comments, I've certainly gotten a lot of exposure!!

That said, I'm curious as to what is the highest # of Views you've received here at AR on one of your posts. Which post has been most successful for your and why?

Changes to Morrisville Carpenter Begin This Saturday April 25th

Have you ever been stuck in traffic at the bottleneck at Morrisville Carpenter and HWY 54 in Morrisville? I know I have many times over the past 10 years. However, the long awaited $3.4 Million expansion has finally arrived. Beginning Saturday April 25^th Morrisville Carpenter Road will be closed from Church Street to NC 54 from four to six weeks to finalize the expansion. It certainly will cause numerous traffic problems around the area until the expansion is complete. However, the expansion has been long overdue.

Even though these roads are owned by the State, the Town of Morrisville passed the bond due to the importance of this heavily traveled corridor.

Looking for a restaurant that is quaint, relaxed, enjoyable, and a little bit beyond the extraordinary? That's just what I ordered for my Birthday yesterday. Fortunately for me, I had Eleanor Thorne join me for the fun and festivities. Thanks goodness Eleanor understands why I bring my video camera and digital camera with me everywhere I go - including fun lunches. Eleanor was nice enough to educate our waitress on Localism and it's benfits.

Cindy's House and Cafe in Cary is fabulously different with wonderful dishes, great menu, and a wonderful staff too! It's located in downtown Cary and provides character to the area. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my visit.

I have the pleasure of working with 1^st time homebuyers this weekend. My clients are relocating from out of state where home prices are astronomical and they are excited about the affordability of homes here in North Carolina. 1^st time homebuyers are my favorite - they listen closely to the advice of professional agents and are full of energy, excitement, enthusiasm, and questions. That's when the wheels started turning and I started thinking....

The North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) has special programs for 1^st Time Homebuyers. There are specific requirements that met including income restrictions, not having owned a home in the past three years, and the price of the home. For those that are eligible this is a great option.

This should get any online savvy buyer a start and a reference as they muddle through the buying process. You don't have to be Einstein to figure out how to buy a home but being educated and going into the process armed with knowledge will be a blessing.
